Description
In the fall of 1996, a young Brown University student heard three dreaded words: “You have cancer.”
He immediately felt the emotions experienced by so many young adults in his situation: shock, denial, anger, and confusion. This young man was looking for an organization or a center that was helping young people like him navigate through their turmoil. He wanted information and support.
What he discovered was almost as alarming as the cancer diagnosis: there was no help available for young adults affected by cancer. That young man was Doug Ulman and he decided he had to do something about it.
Doug and his family made a promise soon after his surgery in the fall of 1996 to work tirelessly to ensure that no young adult would ever have to face cancer alone. In the spring of 1997, the family created the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. Over a decade later, the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults exists and thrives as one of the leading young adult cancer support organizations in the country.
With your purchase of a BowTie, you are not only raising awareness, but $10 will be donated to the Ulman Cancer Fund.
